As folks who have followed here for a spell and have gotten to know me a bit will (hopefully) attest, I always strive to be Positive, Encouraging, Supportive, and Kind-hearted in the things I write and share. My Little Red Bear stories are purposefully intended to be Educational and Informative, along with Entertaining.
But, when one has a creative mind of sorts, you never can be quite sure what that mind may come up with when let loose off the leash from time to time. Such is what we have here.
It was Christmas Week. I was left alone to my own devices while the rest of the family traveled over Christmas break, and nothing other than . . . . sheerly out of boredom I suppose . . . . one evening my mind suddenly began generating thoughts of Lizzie Borden.
The following is what resulted. I hope you enjoy this little bit of nonsense. If not, please rest assured that I will aspire to do better next time. And, it should go without saying, we can’t and shouldn’t be so dreadfully serious all the time, now should we?
As an aside before we read the poem, did you know that Lizzie Borden’s full name was “Lizzie Andrew Borden”? Do you think there is any possibility of Lizzie’s having been a female with the middle name of “Andrew” having anything to do with the overt anger issues displayed towards her parents? Just a thought . . . .
“What To Do On A Christmas Week Night?”
What to do on a Christmas weeknight,
When everyone else is busy?
The shows are repeats and no sports on,
So I’ll call up my old friend Lizzie!
But wait – she carries that big bad axe,
And the last time I called her hair frizzy.
Just leave her be, so safe we’ll be,
As she sometimes goes off in a tizzy.
So what to do on a Christmas weeknight,
When everyone else is busy?
I’ll just have some cookies and punch,
And try to stop when I start to feel dizzy.
Thank you always for visiting!
Getting back to more serious topics for a moment, “Loneliness” can be a cause of much unhappiness during the Christmas Season each year, and for many different reasons — separation from loved ones, the death or loss of a loved one, illness, social isolation, and many others. If you are lonely, please visit “How to Cope When You Are Alone on Christmas.”
If you know someone who may be suffering from isolation or loneliness this Christmas Season, please reach out to them and offer company and companionship. This is the time of year for giving, and we can always find a way to give of ourselves if we only choose to do so.
Wishing you and yours the very Merriest of Christmases and the Holiday Season!

“My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?” — Bob Hope
