“Special Just The Way You Are”

It may sound silly and a few may giggle,

Or feel uneasy and then start to wriggle.

But we’re each very special in our own way,

So, taking a moment to let you know that today.

What Mr. Rogers said is truer than true,

I’m grateful for each and every one of you.

And whether you are near or somewhere afar,

Please know that I like you,  just the way you are.

Everyone is special in their own unique way,

So what can you do to help someone feel better today?

Fred (Mr.) Rogers reminded us that knowing that we can each be loved exactly as we are provides not only our children but for us all the very best opportunity of growing to be the healthiest and happiest of people.

In our stories, Little Red Bear continues this message, reminding his friends that everyone is a very special and unique creation, welcoming all “come as you are.”

With so much marketing and peer pressure to conform to society’s often unreasonable standards and artificially created images, it’s important to keep reminding both our children and ourselves that each of us is special, just the way we are.

Feeling good about ourselves is essential to being able to share and extend kindness, compassion, and love to others.  — Jim  (and Red!)
